Week 4

My final crafting project was crochet. In the beginning of the week, I met with my good friend Katie Barnicle to get her help with crochet. She is quite the crochet master, so it was really nice to get started with crochet with her help. I watched a few videos and did some research before meeting with her and I was able to leave knowing how to do the basic crochet stitch and she also gave me suggestions for patterns to follow. The pattern I was originally setting out to complete was going to be much more complicated and harder to follow, so it was very helpful getting her advice. I realized that it was so much easier to have someone tangibly there to walk me through the steps as opposed to watching videos and looking at websites. If I could redo my project, I would have made it more of a priority to meet with people. Week 3

For Week 3 of my senior project, I was embroidering. This was the craft that I knew least about and was also probably least excited to do. Below is a picture of me at Michaels on Monday.  I started off the week researching embroidery and watching videos to learn about the different stitches and what I would need. A side skill I've had to learn is couponing. I've been avidly couponing to try and get the best deals for the supplies. There were quite a few supplies I had to get for embroidery, which was different than the last two since I usually had some tools lying around my house.  (It was very very bright) Below, is a picture of a llama kit that I purchased from Michaels. When talking to an employee, they recommended that I try using a kit that had a very small hoop and the pattern was already on the fabric.
